Fuld. 7 ½ x 10 5/8”. Cast Bronze, Extremely Fine. Bust of TR

to the left, a banner below inscribed: ROOSEVELT. US flag on

staff draped over his shoulder at right. Signed E. TOURNIER at

lower left.

This is the first of these large size plaques we have seen. We have

previously offered several mounted example in a smaller 70 x

50mm size which have sold for around $100.00. (G)

1914.

Un l i s t ed by Fu l d . 7”. Cast Bronzed White Metal

mounted on a 9 1/2 x 12” walnut board. Jeno Jusko, Sc.

Uniface. (Metal Products Mfg. Co., NYC) Choice Unc. A

handsome high relief portrait of TR facing front. His facsimile

signature is at left center.

This plaque is part of a series entitled “Medallions of the

Immortals” by Jusko and marketed by Thomas Elder. There

were 33 different portraits grouped into three categories

(Celebrated Musicians and Composers, Poets & Authors, etc.;

and Presidents and Rulers.) and struck in three sizes ( 4”, 7”

“ONE HUNDRED PER CENTAMERICAN” 1919.

by Fuld. 9 1/8 x 14”. Foundry Cast Bronze. Allen G. Newman, Sc.

(John Polachek Bronze & Iron Co.) Uniface. About Uncirculated

with an integral hanger on the reverse for suspension. The

plaque features a handsome full-face portrait of TR wearing

his trademark pince-nez glasses. At bottom is inscribed, ONE

HUNDRED PER CENT AMERICAN. Lightly incused above

the inscription is the artist’s signature and the copyright date

“1919.” Deeply incused on the bottom edge at right is JOHN

POLACHEK BRONZE & IRON CO. LONG ISLAND CITY,

N.Y.

Allen G. Newman was a talented sculptor who studied under

John Quincy Adams Ward. His best known medallic works

are the Independence Day Medal for the ANS and his Joan of

Arc medal for the Circle of the Friends of the Medallion. This

plaque in known in two sizes, this being the larger. The smaller

is 9 1/8 x 6”. In our 2013 Auction Eighty Three, we offered an

example in this larger size which did not bear a visible artist’s

signature. It realized $1437.00 in active bidding.
