At $34,500, the top lot of the Glass Works

Auctions, Lambertville, New Jersey,

Internet auction that ended on January

9, 2017, was this rare bottle from the Bob

Ferraro collection in the form of a barrel.

Embossed “Peoples Favorite Bitters /

Powell & Stutenroth,” it is one of only

three or four known examples. Ferraro

acquired the bottle from a Glass Works

auction in 1996 when it was sold from the

Carlyn Ring collection.

This rare bottle in the form of a

lighthouse, identical to the present Cape

May, New Jersey, lighthouse that was

built in 1859 and is still operational

today, is embossed “Seaworth / Bitters

/ Co / Cape May / New Jersey” and

sold for $19,550. Glass Works Auctions,

Lambertville, New Jersey, in an Internet

auction that ended January 9, 2017.

This “W & Co / N.Y.” embossed bottle in

the form of a pineapple sold for $19,550.

Tonic,” this bottle in the shape of a

barrel is very rare in its green color. It

This “Brown’s Celebrated Indian Herb

Bitters” bottle in the form of an Indian

princess is very rare in this brilliant

yellow-green color. They are more

commonly found in shades of amber that

sell in the $500 to $800 range. This one

auction that ended January 9, 2017.
