This 1931 Ford Model A roadster in

pristine condition was the top seller

at the Bunch Auctions, Chadds Ford,

Pennsylvania, December 13, 2016,

sale. With an engine reconstructed by

Schwalm’s, a Strasburg, Pennsylvania,

company specializing in Model A rebuilds,

it brought $28,750.

A collection of six

Buster Brown

Sunday

comic strip original artworks by Richard

F. Outcault (1863-1928) had descended

through the family of the artist. Buster

Brown was a comic strip character created

by Outcault in 1902 and was adopted as

the symbol of the Brown Shoe Company

in 1904. In the early 20th century, Buster

Brown and his pit bull terrier, Tige, were

well known to the American public. The

six Buster Brown lots sold to a European

builder for a total of $47,700. The top lot

of the collection (shown) was titled “The

Worm Turns Twice” and dated March

19, 1916. It had been published in the

Philadelphia Record

This 18th-century French Louis XV

basin decorated with carved putti and

figureheads and with a copper liner with

a crest on the embossed center had been

purchased at Parke-Bernet, New York City,

in the 1940s or 1950s. It sold for $14,000.

This signed Tiffany Studios turtleback

table lamp with an exquisite leaded

stained-glass shade was the top lot

of the November 26 and 27, 2016,

sale at Kaminski Auctions, Beverly,

Massachusetts. It sold for $18,000.

This marked 14k gold Dudley Watch

Co. Masonic pocket watch sold for

This white and cognac diamond

pendant was the top lot at Cordier

December 3, 2016, selling for $16,100.
