Presidential and Political

The pairing of this reverse with an obverse depicting the Great

Seal of California leads us to the conclusion that this combination

is unique. Unfortunately, we have no pedigree for this medal and

so cannot say with any certainty if this was the medal personally

presented to Mr. Finch.

Finch was memorialized in an earlier (November, 1960) medal

featuring an obverse bust of Nixon and a reverse inscription

which read: WITH/ APPRECIATION/ TO OUR FELLOW/

CAMPAIGNERS/ LEN HALL/ BOB FINCH/ CLIFF

FOLGER. A small number of these medals are known. We do

not know if other examples of the Finch medal offered here are

extant. What we can say with conviction is that in our 50+ years

of dealing with Presidential memorabilia, we have never seen nor

heard of another example. (G)
