was burned at the stake during the Marian Persecutions, for his

kneeling on a cloud bearing a portrait of the King and protecting

The obverse die signed “L” is b y John Jacob Lauer and was first
used in 1814. The “L L” signature of the reverse is probably for his
son Ludwig and is probably from the 1830’s-1840’s period. (C)
