spots, as shown. Obv: A very high relief bust of Mueller looking
half left surrounded by his name and vital dates. The reverse bears
a 12 line biographical inscription. Carl Ottfried Muller (1797-1840)
was a German scholar, and philologist who introduced the modern
study of Greek mythology. The medal was designed and executed
by Ferdinand Helfricht, medallist to the Court of Gotha. (D)
