DE FRANCE (Society of Accountancy of France). RECONNUE

D’UTILITÉ/ PUBLIQUE’ (Recognised as of public benefit) PARIS

inscribed to the right of a laurel branch. Uninscribed cartouche at

bottom. The Society was created in 1881 to regulate accountancy

The obverse depicts the monumental lion sculpture by Auguste

Bartholdi (sculptor of the Statue of Liberty), installed at the city

of Belfort. The statue commemorates the defense of the city

during the Franco Prussian war. Rx: An incused inscription in 4

lines: U.F.F.S.A./ CHAMPIONNAT INTERSCOLAIRE/ 1921/ E.

nicks. Plain Edge. Uniface. The obverse is quite similar to that

above except that below the statue is a rectangular exergue which

is inscribed in two lines: 26E CONCOURS NATIONAL DE TIR/

BELFORT 1923. Struck for the national shooting competition that

was held that year at Belfort. (E)

Armand Bonnetain, Sc. AU. Obv: LEON LECLERE MCMXXVII to

either side of his bearded bust left. Rx: DVLCE EST IVVENTVTI

PORRIGERE LVMEN around a standing figure of a nude young

man at right reaching out to receive a lit torch of knowledge

from a seated elder. Léon Leclère (1874-1966), was a French

poet, musician, painter and art critic, best known for his artistic

association with the composer Maurice Ravel.

inscribed at upper. The medal’s title: LE/ LOVP/ ET L’AGMEAV to

right. Rx: Blank. Another medal illustrating a Jean de La Fontaine
