way we can describe it is that the medal looks like the top of

geometric design enclosing company name within a center

circle. Rx: Wreath surrounding long award inscription for 25

years of continuous service to the company. Engraved to GUST

Bronze. Louis Rosenthal, Sc. (MACO). Choice Unc. Obv:

Head of bearded prophet at center. At bottom right, a bearded

angel seated with hands to head and eyes. Open book on lap

is inscribed: 1938. Rx: Within a circle at top, 3 hands grasping a

chalice, IN THE UNION OF FAITHS/ WE ARE FORTIFIED/ TO

SERVE MANKIND. 3 columns below representing the 3 major

faiths.( D )

The sculptor, Louis Rosenthal (1888-) was born in Lithuania. His

original name was Leon Chatel. He emigrated to America in 1907

and studied with Ephriam Keyser in Baltimore. He was elected

to membership in the National Sculpture Society. This is his best

known medal executed in

1909.It

was issued by the Burton Levin

Foundation of Baltimore. A particularly well-done haunting

medal. (D)

Tyler-Davidson Fountain. Rx: ONE/ ITANNICNIC (Cincinnati

spelled backwards) / ANA/ CONVENTION/ CINCINNATI/ OHIO/

AUG. 22-27, 1942 within a laurel wreath. Approximately 200 of

these badges were issued. (D)

(MACO) Uncirculated; a, few very minor spots. Obverse: Profile

busts right of Henry and Amy DeForest. Ivy leaves punctuate

the raised inscription: HENRY LOCKWOOD DEFOREST AMY

BROWN DEFOREST/ 1899 1949. Reverse: A spruce tree stands

before a cloud-filled sky. The incised inscription appears with pine

cones and needles and two stars flank the first word: VISION and

TRUTH CONSTANCY SERVICE below. (E)

BOWLING CONVENTION, 1950.

corners of the reverse This wonderful plaquette depicts Rip

Van Winkle with his long rifle propped up against a tree, fast

asleep. A thin scroll below is inscribed, RIP VAN WINKLE’S

DREAM. The 9 line inscription at top reads: NEW YORK STATE/
