Condition. The front bears portraits of Hudson and Fulton to either

end. At center are depictions of the Half Moon and the Clermont.

Inscribed along the bottom is: HUDSON FULTON CELEBRATION

1909. On the back, at left, is a view of the STATUE OF LIBERTY

while on the right can be seen GRANT’S TOMB. At center is the

advertising message: REED & BARTON CO./ SILVERSMITHS./

shield shaped. Bronze. Signed: Monogram CHS. Obverse: At

center, a doughboy, a rifle in his right hand and his left arm raised

in victory. At top, a displayed eagle is perched above a waving

American flag. The upper portion of the Statue of Liberty at left. At

center background , the American fleet is shown arriving at France

symbolized by the Eiffel Tower. Inscribed at bottom is the legend:

FOR LIBERTY AND RIGHT. The reverse is blank save for a very

tiny incused unknown hallmark. (F)

liberty flanked between Allied flags. Shield below inscribed: LA/

VICTOIRE/ DU/ DROIT (Victory of the Right)/ 1919. The names

of the Allied nations are displayed around in the legend. Rx:

Scene of troops carrying their regimental flags marching past the

“14k”. The troy ounce weight is 5.84 oz. Chester Beach &

Julio Kilenyi, Sc. (Gorham). Choice Uncirculated. Obverse: Bare-

chested workman wielding a hammer about to strike a snake

entwined around a German spiked helmet. Munitions and a crane

are in the background. PRESENTED BY THE AMERICAN

CAR AND FOUNDRY COMPANY around. In ex: 1917 -

1918. Reverse: Figure of Columbia holding a staff & palm branch

with the Statue of Liberty in the background. FOR SERVICE

An unusual collaboration between the aesthetic Beach and the

1079. FRANCE. SINKING OF THE LUSITANIA, 1918.

29. 54mm. Bronze. Rene Baudichon, Sc. (Paris Mint Cornucopia

BRONZE edgemark). About Uncirculated. The obverse legend,

LUSITANIA MAY 7, 1915 is incused on a raised border, the width

of which is varied to created a field similar to a round shied. A

horizontal bar creates a thin chief at top in which a young girl is

drowning. Below, the Lusitania is about to sink; an overturned

lifeboat is the foreground. On the reverse, LVRTIX AMERICA

JVRIS (America, Avenger of the Law) 1917 U.S.A. 1918 is around

a powerful depiction of the Statue of Liberty, a sword replacing

her torch, rising from the very ocean into which the Lusitania had

sunk. A dramatic and emotional medal! (F-G)
