1977

Original box & pamphlet. Obv: Bust right of RICHARD NIXON.
Rx: COHN AFFAIR. LETELIER. CHAPPAQUIDICK. SELLING OF
THE: PENTAGON. CAMBODIA. GULAG around a two-faced male
head with the left face blindfolded. Below, two TV cameras and
between them, a shield labeled, THE/ DOUBLE/ STANDARD.
This medal was the first of five satirical medals designed by our
friend, Robert Julian, who wrote the standard reference work on
U.S. Mint medals. Bob, who’s political views are skewed to the right
more than a little bit, had a great deal of fun poking his medallic
stick at the Liberal establishment. In the process, he has enriched
our political and medallic heritage. 1,340 medals were struck in
bronze and a 49 in Nickel Silver. (D)

manner portrayed on the Great Seal of the United States.
This medal comes in two variations. (1 Gold plated bronze, serially
numbered) (2) Bronze, without serial number. Our understanding
is that this was a Presidential gift item given to supporters shortly
