comedy by George S. Kaufman and starred Gregory Kelly as Peter

Ye Dairy Farm was a “quaint rural drama in four acts” written by

Eleanor Merron Cowper. The play enjoyed considerable success

playing across the country continuously for over three years. (E-F)

a Janvier reduction machine working on Roine’s Lincoln Centennial

medal. DIES AND MEDALS inscribed above. In exergue: JOS. K.

DAVISONS SONS/ PHILA. PA. The reverse displays the figure of

a nude male artist seated at a Janvier Pointing machine amidst a

partially finished piece of statuary on a modeling stand and another

piece of statuary on the floor at the right. STATUARY RELIEFS

REDUCED AND ENLARGED inscribed above.

According to Dick Johnson, this design was originally prepared for

Deitsch Brothers. The Deitsch firm was an importer of the Janvier

machines and founded Medallic Art Company in 1909. Before the

medal was struck, however, the brothers sold their machines to the

Weil Brothers and much of their medallic business to the Davison

firm. Thus the Davison name was substituted on the medal. This

is the first of these smaller size tokens we have seen., The usual

example was struck in 51mm. (D-E)

above a horizontal montage of fruits and vegetables. Below, is a

depiction of the famous land negotiation of all times - the offering of

goods to the Indians in exchange for Manhattan island. The reverse

presents a view of modern Manhattan with its skyscraper buildings,

with arms of NYC below. Above, surrounded by four armorial

shields, is a cartouche with a struck inscription: EXPOSITION. The

usual example of this design is struck in 77.5mm size. (D)
