21, 1930.
This reception was held three days after the expedition’s return
to North America and shortly after the Admiral’s brother, Harry,
completed his term as Governor of Virginia. He was later elected
as United States Senator. RARE – the first we have seen and in
virtually unimproveable condition. (F-G)

65 x 53mm. 7 sided. Silver Plated Bronze.
Unsigned. (Arthus Bertrand) Choice AU. Obv: Winged nude
male figure back to back creating an interior space in which the
name ANDRE/ GRANET has been engraved. The reverse is
inscribed: AERO CLUB DE FRANCE/ ET/ SYNDICAR DSE
LA PRESSE PAERISIENNE/ JOURNEES NATIONALES/
DE L’;AVIATION/ VINCENNES/ 8-9 JUIN 1930. Housed in
a custom original presentation box with the upper interior silk
inscribed with the name of A Chobillon/ Galerie Montperrier at
Palais Royal, Paris.
André Granet was a French architect with a passion for aviation
who specialized in organizing and designing major exhibitions.
He instigated the first “Exhibition of Aerial Locomotion” which
took place, in Paris, at the Grand Palais in 1909, and which
became the forerunner of the Paris Air Show. For many years
he would be responsible for commissioning the exhibits and
contributed to the staging of the air shows. This medal evidences
his participation in the aviation days gather at Vincennes. (F)

Marqusee 220. 76mm. .925 silver. 7.285 oz. Julio Kilenyi,
Sc. Uncirculated. (W&H). The obverse depicts two allegorical
female figures representing New York and New Jersey
shaking hands at the enter. A MEMORIAL TO FRIENDLY
COOPERATION BETWEEN STATES around. NEW JERSEY
- NEW YORK in exergue. The reverse depicts a view of the
GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE toward the New York
side. Housed in its original but very worn leather presentation
case.
