JAMES GARFIELD FIRST TERM MEDAL.

PR-20. 77mm.

Copper, bronzed. Charles Barber, Sc About Uncirculated with

a deep mahogany finish with reflective surfaces;. The obverse

has a light thin scratch in front of the bust while the lower third

of the reverse bears a swatch of unsightly dark corrosion. A

desirable medal for the collector who wants to display both sides

of the medal at the same time. Only 89 of these medals were

struck before the reverse was replaced with one giving the date

of Garfield’s assassination. We sold a choice Unc example in our

last sale for $442.75. This example should bring $150 or so.
