strike without the small cud forming on the reverse rim at 3:00

as seen on later pieces. Obverse with a bust of Cleveland to the

right, his name to either side. Rx: An oak wreath surrounds

the inscription: INAUGURATED/ PRESIDENT/ OF THE/

UNITED STATES. MARCH 4,/ 1885. Only 143 medals were

struck before the reverse was replaced with one giving the date

of his second inauguration. (F-G)

GROVER CLEVELAND SECOND TERM MINT MEDAL.

FH 122. 77mm. Copper, bronzed. Choice Uncirculated with an

attractive reddish bronze patina. A maximum of 127 medals

were struck of this issue between the years 1892/3 and 1903/4

when this copper, bronzed finish was issued. (F-G)

HARRY S. TRUMAN FIRST TERM PRESIDENTIAL

MEDAL.

75.9mm. Bronze. John R. Sinnock, Sc. Choice

Uncirculated. Obverse bust of Truman to the left his title above

and his name in the field in two lines to the right. The reverse

depicts an eagle with its wings down perched on a cartouche

inscribed: INAUGURATED/. PRESIDENT/ APRIL 12, 1945.

A wreath composed of laurel and oak leaves is joined at the

bottom by a shield.

Sinnock’s portrait of Truman was modeled from life in 1945 and

the medal was issued in that year, shortly after FDR’s death. It

was available for only a few years before it was replaced with

the second term medal which carries a new reverse showing the

date of his second inauguration. (H-I)

SOCIETY. OF. THE. CINCINNATI. INSTITUTED. 1783.

Rx: Open wreath around: IN/ COMMEMORATION/ OF THE./

TRENNIAL MEETING/ OF THE/ GENERAL SOCIETY/ OF

THE CINCINNATI/ WILMINGTON DELAWARE/ MAY 10,

1923. Each officer, delegate and alternate received one of the
