Official Presidential Inaugural Medals

270.

EXTREMELY RARE INAUGURAL COMMITTEE

BADGE, 1985.

This is a 7” long hanging badge in mint

condition. Within a blue rosette at top is a 38.5mm gilt bronze

uniface medal bearing the busts of Reagan and Bush. The

portraits are almost identical copies of the busts on the official

medal, but are from a different die. Apinback suspension system

is affixed to the rear of the rosette from which is suspended by

chain links two rectangular bars; the first inscribed AMELIA

MARTINI and the second, PRODUCTON PLANNER.

Suspended from the second bar is a 37.2 x 64mm. gilt bronze

medal with the official inaugural seal at top. Below is inscribed:

1985/ THE COMMITTEE/ FOR/ THE 50TH AMERICAN/

PRESIDENTIAL/ INAUGURAL.

This is an extremely rare badge - the first we have seen in

this particular form. In our 1994 Sale #57, Lot #298, we ran a

similar badge in which a rectangular bar inscribed VOLUNTEER

STAFF and the following gilt bronze medal drop were attached to

a R/W/B back ribbon. This example, sold 22 years ago, brought

$544.50. We have not seen another since! The specimen offered

here, being individually named, is even more desirable and

aspires to a four figure level.
