This medal was awarded as part of a high school essay contest.

Gouverneur Kemble Warren (1830 –1882) was a civil engineer

and prominent general in the Union Army during the Civil War.

He is best remembered for his last minute defense of Little

Round Top during the Battle of Gettysburg and is often referred
