Century oak and
pine sunflower
two-drawer lift-
top chest, 40" x
44½", brought
$5980.
This antique narwhal tusk,
79" long (with antique stand, it
measures 91" high) opened at
$3000, and a buyer at the sale won
it for $7475.
This oil on canvas by American artist Aldro Hibbard (1886-1972),
Country
Church #5
, is signed and retains an old Vose Galleries label. Measuring 24"
x 32", it brought $8050.
This oil on canvas depiction of the White Mountains in New Hampshire in
autumn is signed “JWAS” for J.W.A. Scott (1815-1907) and measures 20"
x 30". Sporting its original frame, it opened at $1000, and bidding quickly
escalated to its selling price of $7360.
This bright and colorful 12" x 20" watercolor by Kentucky-born artist Paul
Sample (1896-1974), a depiction of a Vermont equestrian winter scene, sold
for $8050.
