Vintage textiles were abundant at the booth of Kay Mertens of East Meadow,
New York. The crazy quilt of velvet and silk was priced at $750. The hand-
embroidered and appliqued wall hanging from the 1920s was tagged $250.

booth filled with 18th- and
19th-century American
furniture, decorative arts,
portraits, marine paintings,
and folk art. This carved
and polychrome wood panel
depicting a man tending an ox,
circa 1840, was tagged $2400.
Village Braider’s Bruce
Emond (right), along
with David Erskine and
his French bulldogs,

the crowd lined up for the
1 p.m. opening of the Big
Flea. They’ve closed their
Plymouth, Massachusetts,
shop to concentrate on
