Ship “James Littlefield” in Squall

shows a ship built in 1852 in Brewer, Maine.

The 24" x 36" oil on canvas attributed to Samuel Walters (British, 1811-1882)

was $12,500 from Port ’N Starboard Gallery, Falmouth, Maine.

Park Place Gallery Antiques, Delton, Michigan, asked $16,500 for this New

England Sheraton bed, circa 1810, with restoration to the headboard.

Many dealers offered a variety

of material. Paul Vandekar of

Maryknoll, New York, offered this

American tramp art cabinet, marked

Burlington, Vermont, and signed

on one drawer, “Mr. R.” From the

early 20th century and 30½" high x

12" wide x 5½" deep, the cabinet was

$3500.

This circa 1790 Hepplewhite sideboard of solid mahogany with griffin inlays

was restored by John Hutchinson of Rose Valley Restorations, West Chester,

Pennsylvania. It has a 28" solid top board, and it was $7775.

You can learn a new word at every antiques show. This is a

wrought-iron singletree trace. Reins go through the loops at

each end in order to drive a wagon or sleigh. It was $485 from

Monroe Coldren.

Monroe Coldren

and Son Antiques,

West Chester,

Pennsylvania, is a

specialist in 18th-

and 19th-century

hardware and

metal decorative

arts. The three-

piece set of cooking tools by J. Smoot, Lancaster, was $1500;

the punch-decorated fork and ladle, $220; and the large

ladle, $130.

This Ben Austrian (1870-1921) oil on canvas,

Hen and Her Chicks

, 18" x 24", was $25,000

from Peter Rudolph of McClees Galleries, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.
