chronicle of the history of the United

States, signed and dated 1937, 73¾"

x 64¾", scattered staining and some

paint splatters, $19,200.

“Bear Brand HosieryWears” dis-

play featuring the Three Bears,

hand-painted papier-mâché, 20th

century, 18¼" high, some surface

loss, repair to Papa Bear’s left

ear, $1722.

Nude before mirror by Wilhelm Gall-

hof (German, 1878-1918), oil on canvas,

signed, 25" x 17¼" plus early 20th-century

frame, $3240.

Still life by Robert Kulicke (1924-2007), oil on can-

vas, signed and dated ’65, 7¾" x 8¾" plus a Kulicke

frame, $4200. Although also an artist, Kulicke is

widely known for designing picture frames used

by major institutions. In 2007 the

New York Times

referred to him as “the most innovative and influ-

ential picture frame designer in the United States.”

Sugar chest on turned and

reeded legs, Kentucky or Ten-

nessee, 19th century, cherry

top and mixed-wood case, 31¾" high

x 33½" wide, original finish, one backboard

repaired, interior dividers missing, hinges

probably replaced, $2280.

by John James

Audubon (1785-1851), New York, V.G. Audubon and

Roe Lockwood & Son, 1859, seven volumes, royal

octavo, full embossed leather with title embossed

on front and rear boards, having 500 colored litho-

graphic plates with tissue covers, volumes just

slightly cocked, some shelf wear and rubs on boards,

scattered foxing, very little toning, $10,800.

board in walnut, circa 1800,

inlay including stylized flow-

ers, vases, and vines, 83¾"

high x 48½" wide, $12,000.

Kentucky Jackson press in walnut,

19th century, 88¾" high x 44" wide,

some wear to the finish, one door with

an age split, $4200.
