(two different dates), and in a period
frame. The full inscription says, “Painted
at Ogunquit / Early October 1919 / Emil.
Carlsen. / February 8th 1923.” A William
Macbeth Gallery label was on the back of
the frame, and one from the Cooley Gal-
lery was on the frame backing.
