BROWN BEAR BY ALASKAN ARTIST

JOHN “IRISH” WALLER

Oil on canvas. This painting of a brown bear eyeing a menu

item in the water is about 15½" x 11½", framed about 23" x

19". Signed with“PBH”after the name. Some say“PBH”means

painted by hand, the artist said it means“poor but honest.”

Interesting to note: Beginning in the bicentennial year of 1976

this artist’s painting of another bear was permanently displayed

in driveways throughout Alaska for a number of years...on the

license plates.

Twenty percent of the proceeds donated in cash or kind to museums

that feature large, wild, quadrupeds of North America.
