8-B Maine Antique Digest, April 2015

Top lot forpaintingswas aportrait of Lady JaneGrey, England’s

famous Nine Day Queen. The 41½" x 35½" oil on canvas in the

manner ofHansHolbein theYoungerhas hername at the bottom

of the frame and “Beheaded Feby 12 1554” at the top.An on-site

bidder claimed the portrait for $3840 (est. $2000/3000).

Independent jeweler Charles Prudhomme of Fort Mill,

South Carolina, used his loupe to examine a blue sapphire

and diamond ring in a 14k gold setting. The ring was first

passed but was resurrected at a $500 (est. $1000/1500)

opening bid. No one answered, and it sold to the floor for

$600 with buyer’s premium. Prudhomme was the success-

ful bidder on a 19-piece collection of vintage jewelry (not

shown) that cost him $1140 (est. $500/1000). Prunkl photo.

Anita DiMauro of Honolulu, Hawaii, not only

admired this Art Deco gold and sapphire

bracelet, she also bought it. By Allsopp & All-

sopp, circa 1920, the custom-designed square-

link bracelet went to DiMauro for $1320

($1500/2000).

David and Katrina Stachel of Knoxville, Tennessee, are

longtime Rookwood collectors. They liked the dated

(1903) and signed (“JS” for Jeanette Swing) Rookwood

covered jar in the Standard glaze from the McConnell

collection. The 6½" tall jar sold to the phones for $960

(est. $300/500). Prunkl photo.

Donna Saleeby of Columbia,

South Carolina, fancies herself

a jewelry person. She used her

phone to take a photo of herself

wearing a ring with a 2.01-carat

pear-shaped natural yellow dia-

mond in a platinum setting sur-

rounded with colorless small

round diamonds. It was a quick

battle between an on-site bid-

der versus an Internet bidder

for the ring, with the floor bid-

der capturing it for $12,600

($12,000/18,000).

This 14.5-carat oval emer-

ald is surrounded by round

diamonds in an 18k white

gold setting. The ring

was among the sale’s top

ten prices at $13,200 (est.

$14,000/18,000).

This circa 1930 Art Deco diamond

and platinum ring with a round

3.16-carat brilliant-cut diamond and

small diamonds was the top jewelry

lot of the sale. It sold for $43,200 (est.

$20,000/40,000) to a phone bidder.

The 199 pieces in this French silver flat-

ware service, 1887-1911, by Andre Aucoc

will almost serve 12. One unlucky diner

will have to go without a demitasse spoon.

The set was the top silver lot of the sale. It

sold for $8400 (est. $6000/9000).
